C.O.P.S. Sonar
The Garland County Sheriff's Department has recently received federal funding, through the C.O.P.S. Technology grant program, for the purchase of a Marine Sonic Side Scan Sonar. The funds allowed for the purchase of a complete system, including; a dual frequency "tow-fish", power reel, Panasonic Toughbook computer, two tow cables (a 100' and a 300' cable), portable carrying cases and line weights. Total cost of the system was approximately $39,600.00.
This sonar will be used in the search, detection, recovery and rescue of drowning victims, as well as the detection of sunken vehicles, including; cars, boats, docks and other medium to large items.
